Three Amazing Ways to make a World of Difference
UGANDA: Lukodi Sanitation Project
Drop toilets: $30 each
Lukodi is a village of 1,000 households in Northern Uganda. In 2004 it was the site of a devastating massacre which forced people into the bush and away from their homes. Today people are returning to the area and the Di-Cwinyi Women’s Self Help Group, a community group of over 300 members, is committed to rebuilding the community with Bright Futures help. There is an urgent need to build toilets in the area and funds are being sought to provide materials
for this work. The people of Lukodi will use local labour to build drop toilets which will benefit 1,000 families, making their communities healthier by kerbing the spread of preventable diseases.

INDIA: Medical Clinics in Quarry Villages
Medicines: $5 per person
Bright Futures partner, the Bangalore City Mission, provides life changing development programs that bring help and hope to impoverished children, families and communities in more than 20 quarry villages and poor communities in India. Facilitating medical camps at which many thousands of needy people are seen by local doctors each year is an important health initiative that makes a real difference in people’s lives. For many, it is the first time they have seen a doctor. Provision of facilities and medications for those being treated is critically important and this cost is met through the Bright Futures / Bangalore City Mission partnership and costs, on average, just $5 per person.

PAKISTAN: Education
School books and uniforms: $50 per child
In Pakistan, Bright Futures partner the Christian Fellowship of Pakistan (CFP), is helping break the cycle of poverty by providing opportunities for poor children to obtain an education. Without education the opportunities for future employment are very limited. The CFP school provides schooling for nearly 300 students, both
boys and girls, many of whom are orphans. Over the past year CFP has focused a great deal of its resources toward responding to the terrible floods that resulted in displacement of millions and the widespread loss of life.
