Monitoring Trip to India 2013
The trip to Bangalore India was an eye opener. This project has been going for a while, and with over 600 students in Sinclair School, the facilities are stretched to their limit. A new child centre/kindy has begun, taking some of the pressure of enrolments and the use of space. The self-help groups are really having an impact on the community, particularly the ladies. They are saving money and supporting their families. The quarries are confronting, and people work for $1 per day. Medical facilities are again limited, with a nurse working with BCM in the quarry facility, and irregular visits from doctors. A new farm has been established, with dairy and raising chickens being the focus, and the local community is heavily involved…which is clearly the way Bangalore City Mission works.
